Lime Crime Matte Velvetines – Best Picks

Lime Crime has always been one of these brands that remain a mystery to me. You don’t see many reviews and Youtuber’s don’t seem to promote them anymore. Maybe they’re not as popular anymore, given the few scandals that have happened in the past 10 years or so, or maybe people are moving away from matte liquid lips. Either way, I’m not, so I pick up some Lime Crime Matte Velvetines at any chance I get.

Now, these bad boys come in at £18 at Boots, so these things are pricey, and you only get a teeny 2.6ml of product. Compare it with Mac Retro Mattes, where you’re getting double the product for £1 more, and it doesn’t seem like that good of a deal.

But there’s something about the Lime Crime Matte Velvetines that attract to me more than most other liquid lipstick brands. The colour range is one, the shades are bold without sacrificing versatility, for the most part, and the formula is by far my favourite of any liquid lip that I’ve tried. Oh and they smell amazing! The packaging is adorable too, and I love the frosted glass tube.

As for formula, these dry fast, so you have to work quickly. However, once they do dry, they stay for hours, with minimal reapplication required. They are by far one of my favourite matte lip formulas.

Lime Crime Matte Velvetine – Dina

Dina is one of my favourites of my little collection. Dina is a beautiful dusty pink, with very slight cool undertones. It’s an ideal every day colour, and one of my go to shades for work. Sadly, I think this was a limited edition shade, but keep an eye on eBay, which is where I picked mine up! Alternatively, if you feel weird about buying from eBay, the shade Sasha from this range is equally as beautiful, just a little darker.

Lime Crime Matte Velvetine – Red Rose

Red Rose is marketed as a ruby red, but I don’t necessarily agree. It’s a beautiful red, sure, but it’s also got warm pink tones, and is a stunning twist on a classic red.

Lime Crime Matte Velvetine – Shroom

Shroom is described by Lime Crime as a “90’s Brown”, which I agree with although in my eyes it’s a little more “greige”. It;s a beautiful muted nude, perfect for an look that might be a little more edgy.

Lime Crime Matte Velvetine – Wicked

Now ya girl is a pasty ginger, so you already know I love rocking a red lip, Jessica Chastain style. However my alter-ego emo kid is always looking for something a bit edgier, and Wicked is just that. It’s a deep purple-red, and definitely a bit of me.

Lime Crime Matte Velvetine – Riley

Possibly my favourite shade from Lime Crime, Riley is a beautiful pinkish, brickish nude. My heart breaks because this isn’t available for general sale. I first found it in an Asos beauty box, and when that ran out, I got a mini from eBay. I’ve not been able to find it since, so when this one runs out, I might cry!

Lime Crime Matte Velvetine – Bleached

Bleached is a beautiful light coral colour, with a hint of peach. It’s perfectly girly, and great shade for everyday use.
