Hands up if you’ve never heard of Grüum before? Me too. I was browsing my VeryMe rewards (Vodafone’s answer to O2 Priority), and I saw a little offer for a free skincare product, with just 99p shipping. And who’s going to turn down 99p skincare? Not me, kids. I chose the SPF50 Face Sunscreen, because every time a beauty guru starts their makeup routine with SPF, I feel guilty that I don’t.
Grüum is a Manchester based (yaaaas) company, started to try expand the world of gender-neutral skincare. There’s no pretty pink packaging, no ONLY FOR MEN emblazoned down the side. The component that it comes in is a sleek, neutral stone colour, that wouldn’t look out of place on anyone’s dressing table. Grüum products are also all Cruelty Free, and the majority are Vegan.
It arrived after a week, and I’ve put it to good use so far. The biggest thing for me is that it only smells slightly of suncream, which means I’m not fighting the urge to pack my bags and fling myself off to the Caribbean for a week every morning. There’s no added fragrances, sand it claims its great for sensitive skin. As a sensitive skin owner, I can confirm, I have had no issues.
Another pro for me, is that it’s non sticky, non-greasy and absorbs so quickly. It’s pleasantly light, and once it has absorbs you can’t feel it, so it’s hardly another layer under your makeup. I’ve found my makeup goes over it just fine, it doesn’t change it at all, but I did find my makeup lasting longer in this bloody heatwave we’re having. Look at me, acting as if I’ve been anywhere but Aldi in the past 3 weeks.
On the whole, I really would recommend checking Grüum out. Not just for the SPF50 Face Sunscreen, but to help support an affordable local business, who took on a giant industry and who have really good philosophies that they stand by.
